Spellings- Spellings are set each week on a Friday with the expectation that they are learnt by the following Friday for a test. Spellings are different for Year 5 and Year 6 and follow the statutory guidelines for their age group. In addition to statutory spellings there are also a list of topic words given on a two weekly basis and are the same for both Year 5 and Year 6. Spare spellings are on our English working wall if the children need them.
Spelling books must come into school on a Friday so we can do our test in the back and stick next weeks spellings in.
Mathletics- Mathletics homework is set weekly (usually on a Thursday) and is in line with what we have been learning in class. This work is monitored regularly and is set to ensure that weeks learning is consolidated before moving on. If there is a difficulty accessing Mathletics at home there is a Mathletics club run on a Tuesday lunchtime.

Topic homework- This half term our topic is South America. Children have been asked to bring in a piece of homework of their choice, that focuses on our class topic. Homework for this can be brought in any time throughout the term leading up to the Easter holiday. Here are some suggestions to get you started...
-Research a country/area in South America of your choice and create a presentation to share with the class.
-Recreate a piece of artwork/sculpture from your chosen country.
-Find out about food from different areas in the continent and create a dish for the class to sample.
-Write a quiz, comprehension, wordsearch, crossword or treasure hunt for your class to complete.
