Hope Baptist Church
This afternoon, we walked over the road to Hope Baptist Church for a visit linking to our RE topic 'Which faiths make up our community?'. We met members of the church and discussed the history of the building, as well as watching a video. We had a Q&A opportunity with the priest to answer our burning questions and finally explored the church on an exciting trail!
Riverside's Got Talent Auditions
This afternoon we enjoyed some fantastic auditions in 3/4S. I was very impressed with the amount of talent in our class, from singers to hilarious comedians and violinist to dancers! We voted and are pleased to be sending our fantastic 'Spinning Diablos' team and Ellis through to the final. GOOD LUCK!
This week we have continued to dive deeper into our exciting topic The Ancient Egyptians! We have explored how the pyramids were built in science testing which materials would have been strong enough and even weighed some hearts in Maths to see which Egyptians would have made it to the Afterlife. In PE we perfected our Egyptian dancing and creative a movie to show on our open classroom afternoon. As well as all of this we learnt about Tutankhamen and the discovery of his tomb, we even created our own tomb in our classroom and became Archeologist for the lesson! We hope you enjoy browsing through some photos of our busy Egypt week.
Class 3/4S have worked extremely hard this week to produce some fantastic products for the Enterprise Fair. Everything we made was designed and created completely out of recycled material. As a class we sold all the products we made at the fair and raised an impressive £100!
Canal Boat Tours
Today we were lucky enough to enjoy a talk from our visitors and take a tour on some of Hebden Bridges finest Canal Boats. We even learnt how to drive a boat and all about living on one!
We took part in lots of fun workshops during our trip to Countryside Life. We learnt a lot about nature & wild life and even enjoyed watching a Dancing Sheep Show! Here are just a few of the things we got up too...
Ancient Egypt Day
Today we took a trip back in time to Ancient Egypt and even met a Pharaoh Ramses! We spent the morning transforming ourselves into egyptians, creating some fantastic art work. Then we learnt about the 'Mummification Process' and battled it out to see which team could create the best MUMMY! We also mastered how to walk like an egyptian... We hope you enjoy looking through some photos from our amazing day!
World Book Day
Quacking time at Riverside!
We are very excited to announce the arrival of our very own Riverside ducklings, who will be making an appearance after half term! The children will be encouraged to get involved and learn, as we watch them hatch and grow.
Our PE lesson will take place on Wednesday afternoons this term. Lessons can be both indoor and outdoor, depending on the weather, so please make sure your child has the correct kit in school.
