Safeguarding Team
It is a department for Children, Schools and families (DCSF) requirement that each school in the country nominates a senior member of staff who will have special responsibility for Child Protection. In Calderdale, this member of staff, known as the Designated Safeguarding Lead Officer, has received training in this area, and can be trusted to deal with all these matters with professional confidentiality. At Riverside, the DSLO is David Howes. There is also a statutory requirement for schools to have a Deputy Child Protection Liaison Teacher. At Riverside, the Deputy DDSLO is Sarah Kaler. Our school will ensure that the DSLO, the DDSLO and the governing body attend training relevant to their role. All staff will receive Child Protection training, which is relevant and appropriate to their role. Refresher training is available every three years. Induction training in Safeguarding will be provided to all new staff and volunteers within half a term.
