Good afternoon 5J,

Today's investigation is going to explore the link between exercise and our heart rate. My walk around Hebden Bridge last week really made me consider the impact that living in the valley has on your bodies, access to space, and attitudes towards physical exercise (children I know in London would find the walks you do every day really challenging - whereas to you they're just the fastest route home!).

Your task this afternoon, is to participate in different activities and explore the impact this has on your heart rate. What can you do that really gets your heart beating? Is exercise the only thing that gets your pulse racing? And how long does it take for your pulse rate to return to its resting rate once its been elevated?

Before we begin, you should find the definitions of the words highlighted in green above.

Have fun!
