Task 1: Can you use the SPAG posters and BBC Bitesize clips below, to recap on the writing features we have covered in class.
Alliteration: is when words start with the same letter or sound. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zfkk7ty/articles/zq4c7p3
Simile: A simile describes something by comparing it to something else, using like or as. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zfkk7ty/articles/z9tkxfr
Personification: giving objects or animal human characteristics. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zfkk7ty/articles/zw9p8mn
Task 2: Look at the picture below. Can you write 3 sentences for each writing feature (alliteration/simile/personification) and describe what is happening in the picture.
- The wild, waves crashed against the side of the rickety old boat. (Alliteration)
- The boat raced through the water like a horse at the Grand National. (Simile)
- The wind howled as the fisherman steered the boat, like his life depended on it. (Personification)
Using only the letters in the grid, how many other words can you make? You may only use the letters that are on the grid, but can repeat them in the word if needed. How many points can you score? Why not play against a member of your family?
(3 points for a 3 letter word, 4 points for a 4 letter word etc).
