Flood Alleviation Scheme

As you know the Environment Agegney are carring out works around Hebden Bridge as part of the preparations for the planned Flood Alleviations Scheme in the area.

We have met with the Environment Agency and they have advised us that there will be further disruption in Hebden Bridge, especially in Market Street and the surrounding area. This is likely to start around the 8th of June and will take approximately five weeks and may result in traffic delays in the area – we are asking that you plan this into your journeys to and from school if possible.

As well as the Traffic Management systems that will be in place on Market Street, please be mindful that the zebra crossing there (closest to Valley Organics and Element shops) will be out of use for some of this time.

Central Street School is likely to be more directly affected there will be a planned closure of Hilton Street, which joins Market Street to Central Street. Access to Central Street will be via Salem Street. We are advising that families to avoid driving into Central Street during this time as turning will be difficult. This is likely to take effect in mid-June.

Please look out for updates about the work on www.eyeoncalderdale.com under the Projects – Hebden Bridge FAS section, where you will be able to find more information ahead of the work commencing. From next week this will be kept up to date and will include detailed maps and updates as the work progresses.
